Review by Philip D. Miller for 2010 FIFA World Cup
Rating:
I almost didn’t purchase this because a few reviewers said that there wasn’t much difference between FIFA 10 and FIFA 10 World Cup. Well, I wouldn’t expect there to be except for the venue, so I purchased it anyway and I am really glad I did. Admittedly, I am new to soccer video games but I cannot believe how much content EA packed into this portable game. There are 10 different ways to play, everything from the entire World Cup, to just the World Cup finals. You can even choose a team from one of the FIFA confederations and try to make it through the qualification rounds to get to the World Cup. To put the icing on the cake, EA included a multiplayer mode where you can play a friend on another PSP (adhoc) or people from across the globe (infrastructure). The music tracks are top notch, which I have come to expect from EA. I found the player movements to be fluid and the game play to be quite frantic at times. As in real soccer, scoring is no easy feat even against the weaker teams. This makes for very realistic and rewarding game play, as you have to work hard for those goals. There are many different control methods to choose from and EA was kind enough to include a new “2-button” control method for newbies like myself. To learn the more advanced controls, EA has included a practice mode which allows you play against anywhere from 1 opponent (just a goalie) up to 11 opponents (a full team). The practice modes are free practice, corner kicks, free kicks or penalty shoot out. This is a great way to hone your skills before playing a real match. As you progress through the game, you can win various trophies and awards as well as unlock new soccer balls designs and other items. There are just too many features to list in this short review but I think EA did a great job in delivering an excellent World Cup simulation for the PSP.

Rating:
I own fifa 10 for the psp and love it! I have played the game longer than I have played any other game. I decided to get the fifa world cup 2010 so I could take Scotland to the world cup. The gameplay is almost the exact same as fifa 10 there are more volleys and overhead kicks in this version but not much else has changed. I enjoyed playing the game and managed to get through the qualifying and ended up getting put out in the quarter finals which was fine as I enjoy a challange. The problem was I only played 12 matches to reach the quarter finals and had no interest in starting again from scratch. It is a good game but I want to play 38 league games, cup games, play season after season and be able to transfer players to improve my team. The world cup game has no depth and I was aware of that before I bought it but I hoped the game play would have improved even more from the fifa 10 version. Within a week I sold the game and am back to fifa 10.
My advice is to get fifa 10 rather than this as the game will keep you hooked longer!

With free shipping (unlike the other cards) you get ALL of your money back in credit for the Playstation Store. If you want $50 credit, don’t buy a $50 card, buy 5 $10 cards!

yeah, that about sums it up. Buy anything for $10 on the PSN, sounds good to me. Personally, I used it to Download Final Fantasy VII to my PS3. ^^
